Seniors' Loneliness Awareness Week Proclamation - June 15-21, 2026
By virtue of the power vested in me
I Do Hereby Declare
The week of
June 15-21, 2026
as "Seniors Loneliness Awareness Week"
in the City of Pembroke.
Whereas across Canada, many older adults are carrying a quiet burden of feeling unseen, disconnected, or alone; and
Whereas while loneliness can affect anyone, seniors are especially vulnerable to losing the everyday connections that help in feeling valued and supported; and
Whereas human connection does more than support our health, it also helps us feel seen, valued and connected to the people and places around us.
Now Therefore, I, Ron Gervais, Mayor of the City of Pembroke, do hereby proclaim the week of June 15-21, 2026 to be Seniors Loneliness Awareness Week in the City of Pembroke, and encourage all to reach out to our seniors with a few simple actions such as a phone call, a visit, listening to their stories and letting them know they matter.
Dated in the Mayor’s Office this 16th day of June, 2026.
Ron Gervais
Mayor, City of Pembroke
