Care for Seniors Day Proclamation - October 1, 2026

By virtue of the power vested in me

I Do Hereby Declare

October 1, 2026

as

Care For Seniors Day

in the City of Pembroke.

Whereas Care for Seniors Day is an opportunity for Canadians to celebrate and recognize the challenge facing older adults throughout the community; and

Whereas Seniors contribute immensely to the life and vibrancy of our community by serving as active leaders, caregivers, volunteers and more; and

Whereas Seniors in our community are often affected by physical, mental, financial and emotional challenges that can come with aging; and

Whereas the health and wellbeing of older adults is in the interest of all, and adds to the health and wellbeing of our community; and

Whereas Carefor retirement home resident, Melanie Freeman, is commencing her Care for Seniors with Melanie campaign on October 1st to improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of seniors in our community;

Therefore, be it resolved that I, Ron Gervais, Mayor of the City of Pembroke, do hereby proclaim October 1st, 2026 as “Care for Seniors Day” in the City of Pembroke.
