Pembroke, Ontario

With a history steeped in resilience, Pembroke is the Heart of the Ottawa Valley. Established in the early 1820s on the traditional, unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe people, Pembroke takes its roots in the loggingindustry, where the mighty Ottawa River served as a lifeline for transporting timber.

Two centuries later, Pembroke's history is preserved through the local Jr. A hockey team, the Lumber Kings, or through artifacts and replicas visible at the Upper Ottawa Valley Heritage Centre and Waterfront Park. The spirit of hockey is strong - Pembroke is known today as Hockey Town Canada.
