Pembroke has been officially designated Canada's 'Hockeytown'. With three native sons inducted to Hockey's Hall of Fame, Harry Cameron, Frank Nighbor and Hugh Lehman, Pembroke still remains a hockey hotbed.
In late November, early December Pembroke plays host to the International Silver Stick tournament, the largest tourney of it's kind in North America.

The renowned Pembroke Lumber Kings take to the Pembroke Memorial Centre ice from September through March. The Kings are the main tenant at the PMC and compete at the Junior 'A' level in the Central Canada Hockey League. Regular home games take place at the PMC on Sunday nights at 7:00 p.m.
The Lumber Kings won a league record five consecutive league championships from 2006-07 to 2010-11 culminating in a Royal Bank Cup national championship victory in 2011.
