Madeleine Kelly Key to the City Ceremony

Date: September 5th, 2021

The City of Pembroke is excited to announce that on Sunday, September 5 at 4:00 p.m. at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre at the Waterfront, Madeleine Kelly will be presented with the Key to the City of Pembroke in recognition of her achievements in athletics.

Madeleine persevered through a vigorous training and qualification process through COVID-19 to compete in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, representing her hometown of Pembroke on the world’s largest stage. In 2019, she ran her way to the top of the country, claiming the women’s 800-metre national championship.

“Madeleine’s athletic passion and dedication have been evident to those in our community who have known her since her days running with Fellowes High School and Les Coureurs de Bois and our entire community has been filled with a tremendous sense of pride in watching her compete at this summer’s Olympics,” stated Mayor Mike LeMay.

There is no cost to attend the ceremony, but free tickets must be reserved in coordination with ongoing COVID regulations. Tickets can be reserved here. Upon arrival, all attendees are asked to check in at the City booth at the front entrance of the amphitheatre.
