Laughter, good for the soul, unity and the community
The local non-profit organization, Funny in a Good Way (FIAGW), is set to launch their second event in support of opening the week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The event is set to take place on January 19th, 2019 and offers up an opportunity for the community to experience a unique ecumenical event that includes: worship music, a skit by local pastors, a comedy piece and of course prayerful discernment around Christian Unity.
Similar to the sold out event last January, 2018, this year’s event will again take place at Festival Hall and the doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the event starting at 7:00 p.m. Those who attended the event last year can attest to an evening full of laughs and this year the plan is to continue this tradition. The 2019 event will feature the comedic talents of Leland Klassen. Leland is recognized as one of Canada’s premier clean comedians and his unique intelligence and wit have carved out a wonderful niche for himself in the world of entertainment. An actor, comedian and speaker, Leland credits include many of the top comedy events, such as Just for Laughs, Halifax Comedy Festival,Thou Shalt Laugh, as well as many television and hosting appearances with events including Promise Keepers Canada and the Gospel Music Association of Canada.
We are delighted to announce the participation of the Petawawa Chapter of the Canadian Military Wives Choir as they offer up their voices for the evening. Contemporary Christian band Gate47 will also provide their rendition of songs from some of today's top contemporary Christian artists.
FIAGW values the work of numerous non-profit organizations that help those in need; therefore, we are choosing to direct the proceeds from this event to support local food banks. Further details and ticket information can be obtained at Funnyinagoodway.ca.
Advance tickets are $20.00 or $25.00 at the door. More locations will come on board, but initially tickets are available for purchase at Alterna Savings, 680 Pembroke St E, Pembroke. There are still opportunities for businesses, organizations and youth to offer up additional support for the event.
