COVID-19 Updates

The City of Pembroke is continuing to monitor the situation regarding the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) with the guidance of government and healthcare professionals across the province and the country. Throughout this situation, the City’s goal is to safeguard the continuity of Pembroke services that support the safety and well-being of our residents while ensuring the health and safety of our employees.

Effective Thursday, April 8, 2021, we are in a provincewide state of emergency with a stay at home order.

All City of Pembroke offices are closed to the public. City staff will be working from home where possible. Essential visits will be accommodated by appointment only. Appointments with staff must be made prior to arriving at City offices. In support of the province’s stay at home order, limited appointments will be available supporting essential business only during this time. Appointments with city staff will require a health screening process in keeping with established public health guidelines.

City Hall, the Operations Department, the Parks and Recreation Department and the Fire Department are closed to the public. The Pembroke and Area Community Centre, Kinsmen Pool, and Pembroke Memorial Centre walking track were previously closed based on provincial direction. The Rapids Skate Park, Krista Johnson Fitness Grove, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, and soccer fields within the City remain closed in accordance with provincial direction.

Playgrounds in the City of Pembroke are open. 

City staff will continue to be available by phone and email. To speak to a staff member, please call 613-735-6821 or email [email protected] between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Council will be meeting virtually and residents can livestream the meetings on the City’s YouTube Channel or by watching YourTV.

Vaccine Information

These priority groups are now able to book a vaccine appointment with the RCDHU:

  • All individuals 50+
  • All residents and staff of congregate living facilities.
  • Long-Term Care and Retirement Home essential caregivers.
  • Indigenous residents (on or off reserve) who are 18+.
  • Faith based leaders who, as part of their role, provide end of life care, care of the deceased, home visits to unwell persons, or pastoral care in LTC/RHs or other vulnerable settings.
  • All health care workers.
  • Anyone receiving chronic home care that have been identified by home health care organizations. This group will receive a call notifying them that they are eligible and should book after receiving this call.
  • Education staff supporting students with complex special education needs.
  • Residents with the following high-risk health conditions and one essential caregiver for those in the high-risk health condition group: Organ transplant recipients, Stem cell transplant recipients, Neurological diseases in which breathing function may be impacted, Haematological malignancy (acute lymphocytic (ALL), chronic lymphocytic (CLL), acute myeloid (AML), chronic myeloid (CML)), myeloma, and lymphoma (Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s (NHL)), Kidney disease eGFR< 30, Obesity (BMI > 40), Treatments causing immunosuppression (e.g., chemotherapy, immunity- weakening medications such as long-term steroid treatment rheumatoid arthritis, lupus), Intellectual or developmental disabilities (e.g., Down Syndrome), and individuals who are pregnant. 
  • Child care workers in licensed child care settings
  • All elementary and secondary school workers (including educators, custodial, school bus drivers, administrative staff)
  • Workers responding to critical events (including police, fire, special constables, children’s aid society workers, emergency management, critical infrastructure restoration workers)
  • Enforcement, inspection and compliance roles (including by-law enforcement, building inspectors, food inspectors, animal welfare inspectors, border inspection officers, labour inspectors, WSIB field workers)
  • Remaining individuals working in licensed childcare settings (including all licensees, employees and students on educational placements who interact directly with children in licensed childcare centres and in authorized recreation and skill building programs, licensed home child care and in-home service providers, employees of home child care agencies). • Foster care agenda workers (including customary care providers)
  • Food manufacturing and distribution workers
  • Agriculture and farm workers
  • Funeral, crematorium and cemetery workers.

Pharmacy Vaccinations

In addition to booking at public clinics, adults 40+ can receive the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine at the following locations in Pembroke:

  • Wal-Mart pharmacy in Pembroke. Booking can be done online here
  • Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy in Pembroke. Booking can be done online here. 
  • Rexall pharmacies in Pembroke. Booking can be done online here.

Parks & Recreation Updates

This section provides information regarding City of Pembroke Parks and Recreation updates.

The Parks and Recreation department office is closed to the public.  Any Parks and Recreation invoices or fees are able to be paid over the phone. The department office is available to the public via phone or email at 613-735-6821 ext. 1501 or [email protected].

The Building, Planning and By-Law Department will open to the public on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
