Pembroke Economic Development Advisory Committee

Formed in March, 2015, the Pembroke Economic Development Advisory Committee (PEDAC) provides input to the Planning and Development Committee of Council on matters pertaining  to business attraction and retention. Members meet on a regular basis with City managers to receive reports and studies, and to provide advice on matters that may impact the economic climate of Pembroke. Their role is fully outlined in the Terms of Reference that were established to guide their decision making processes. 


Win This Space is a contest by the City of Pembroke for entrepreneurs to win a commercial space in Pembroke rent-free for 6-months on a 2-year lease. The contest is free to enter and open to residents of Ontario over the age of 19. The first stage of the contest is to complete the below entry form which is open January 26 - February 24. The entry form simply asks for your contact information along with your business idea. If your business fits within the zoning criteria, is legal, and you have no outstanding issues with the City then you will be invited to enter the contest.

All participants will take part in 3 training sessions to help them in developing a business plan. The final submission is a business plan which the judges will evaluate and narrow it down to 5 businesses. Those 5 participants will attend the Grand Finale where a Grand Prize Winner will be announced live. There are a number of properties available to entrepreneurs, the Grand Prize Winner will have the opportunity to select which property they would like to open their business in. The City of Pembroke is open for business with over 700 acres of vacant land. Along with privately held land, the City maintains two industrial parks with land available from $10,000 per acre plus frontage. Lots are configurable and may be smaller than an acre parcel. Community Improvement Plan - Available Grants

As of September 2016 Pembroke has launched it's Community Improvement Plan (CIP). A Community Improvement Plan is a tool used by municipalities to assist in community revitalization and achieving economic, community planning, and urban development goals through encouraging private-sector investment.
