Formed in March, 2015, the Pembroke Economic Development Advisory Committee (PEDAC) provides input to the Planning and Development Committee of Council on matters pertaining to business attraction and retention. Members meet on a regular basis with City managers to receive reports and studies, and to provide advice on matters that may impact the economic climate of Pembroke. Their role is fully outlined in the Terms of Reference that were established to guide their decision making processes.
In March 2017 the City of Pembroke announced that we would be undertaking a Business Retention and Expansion Survey to better understand the concerns and opportunities for our businesses. The survey will be focusing on manufacturers and employers with over 15 employees. The survey will be done with support from the Pembroke Economic Development Advisory Committee. The City of Pembroke is open for business with over 700 acres of vacant land. Along with privately held land, the City maintains two industrial parks with land available from $10,000 per acre plus frontage. Lots are configurable and may be smaller than an acre parcel.
