Copeland Hotel
Copeland Hotel, 48 Pembroke
Street West December 6,1976 1:55 p.m.
A local taxi driver phoned in the initial alarm. The hotel, which was
built in 1884, had undergone numerous renovations. False walls and ceilings
made it difficult to control the blaze. At the fires peak, flames reached
a height of 70 feet. All members of the Pembroke Fire Department were
called in to battle this blaze; assistance was obtained from the Stafford
Fire Department. Fortunately at the time of the fire the hotel was vacant.
