2019 Summer Student Employment Program

The City of Pembroke is inviting students to apply for 2019 summer employment opportunities.

If you are interested in taking on exciting challenges and making a difference in your community, explore our summer job opportunities available from May through September in a wide range of fields which include: Parks and Recreation, Operations, Planning & Building and Treasury.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Summer Student Employment Program, you must satisfy the following criteria:

·         be 16 years of age or older by the first day of summer employment;

·        enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary program or institution of

       higher learning on a full-time basis;

·        returning to school on a full-time basis following summer employment.

Students are welcome to apply for more than one position; however, you must specify your three (3) preferences that you are applying for within your application. Applications will be matched with opportunties based on area of academic study, experience, and specific interest.

Parks and Recreation:

·         Recreation Aide

·         Waterfront Live Supervisor

·       Facilities Supervisor

·         Riverside Park Attendants

·      Waterfront Live Attendant

·         Marina Attendants

·         City Maintenance Attendant

·         Rotary Park Day Camp Counsellors

Operations Department:

·      Roads and Fleet Student (general maintenance/labour)

·      Engineering Student

·    Pollution Control Centre (Student)

·    Co-op Environmental Technician (Student)

Planning and Building:

·      By-Law Enforcement Officer


·      Treasury Clerk

Pembroke Business Improvement Area:

       ·     Downtown Pembroke Assistant

Please note that some of the summer student positions are dependent on grant funding from Canada Summer Jobs.
